Dec. 21st, 2013 06:26 pmThe store's still packed, and the other two stores at the Hope Emporium look like they're getting some foot traffic too. They're setting off the fireworks in half an hour or so, which should be exciting. And we're going to dinner after, because Mum and Prospero are sulking in Scotland -- mum sent along something vague about an important village holiday party she absolutely had to host tonight, which means they didn't get an invite to the Malfoy's either. I suppose I'll be spending a great deal of my time in New London depending on how sour they are about that.
Crispin stopped by before I got there and made some trouble -- he somehow set a firework off (blaming someone else, of course), and then sent off a spout of water to 'be helpful', and got an entire shelf of our product thoroughly wet in the process. Hitty was about fit to be burst. She managed to salvage some of it, though, and they'd cleaned it all up by the time I got there.
The store looks wonderful. I wish you could see it. And George and Fred have a desk set up for me in the offices in the back, and put a vase of flowers on it just to celebrate.
I miss you already. It's a good thing Christmas eve is just a few days away.

Date: 2013-12-22 02:28 am (UTC)Apparently there were a whole load of businesses that got shuttered this past week, all over, and this wrecked a bunch of people's Christmas gifting plans because the Strettons got barraged with owls today. Oh ALSO it meant that Harrods cancelled a bunch of orders or offered substitutions. Anyway. I've never seen it this busy. They're lucky I suggested they hire Jones.
Anyway I wish I could see the store, too. What hours is it open? I mean, just in case I have any free time later in the holiday and could come to London.

Date: 2013-12-23 03:06 am (UTC)Mrs Stretton gave Ron a galleon today for coming to help and decided this evening that meant she probably ought to give me a galleon, too, so she DID actually pay me. Megan Jones, too. She said she'd give me five sickles for every friend I could turn up to help tomorrow and Tuesday (and she'll pay them all a galleon and let them raid the Bad Jam) but I have no idea who to ask. Sometimes it feels like I am the only person in Slytherin who doesn't have money -- except for Hydra, but she doesn't have pocket money because that's just one more way her parents have found to be awful to her. It's not that her FAMILY doesn't have money (and I can't imagine her parents letting her deliver parcels).
Anyway. My feet hurt and I'm tired. I got to sit down for fifteen minutes while I ate my lunch and I'm sitting down now but other than that I think I was on my feet from 8 a.m. onward and tomorrow's going to be more of the same.
