I very stupidly forgot that Mother would be able to see who I'd written to, and now she's very concerned and asking why I would do that.

Because she's been denying that he's dead, you know. She won't even hear a word of it, and Father has no idea what to do.

I think I've just made things worse...

That is tricky.

I can see why she'd want to keep believing that he isn't.

But it's not your responsibility to tell her that he is.

That's for her to sort out in her own time. And if she wants to keep on for a bit longer than everyone else, then she's got every right to, seeing as how close they were.

Maybe what she needs right now is for you to let her do things her way?

There were other people who were close to him, too, and they're not denying the truth of what happened.

It's just...what if she never accepts it.

You should have seen how Father looked. I mean, it was hard to tell through the flames, but he was really upset. Moreso than I can remember seeing him in a long time.

Well, Sirius Black was supposed to be dead, and he sort of maybe isn't. And Regulus disappeared for years and years before coming back, and they never did find his body.

So maybe that's where she gets it from.

I think it's that your mum is always so sensible. And she's been under a terrible lot of stress lately.

I'm sure she'll come round, though.
