Private Message to Lucy Baddock

If they want to know what I wrote you, you can say I wrote this:
'I was there too, you know. I know what really happened.'
Honestly, though, Lucy, I wanted to say that I'm sorry for what you've been through. You lost so many good friends, and that must have been awful and frightening and terribly sad. If I lost Sally-Anne, I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd be lost, and alone, and I'd want to lash out at the people who were responsible for it. And if I couldn't lash out at them, that anger would have to go somewhere.
I can imagine the sort of pressure you're under. I've been there.
I know what it's like to want very badly to keep the people you love safe, and be worried about them. To love someone because they're family, despite what they've done.
There's nothing wrong with that. It just makes things more complicated sometimes.
But Lucy, I just want to make sure that you feel safe, too.
Remember what Mrs Longbottom said to everyone before you left? She meant every word, and she still does. The Order will provide a safe place for any student who needs it.
And remember, Lucy, this Private Message is truly private. No-one besides you will ever be able to read it, and no-one will ever know if you've written me back. But if you ever do want to talk, I'll be here.
