Draco, I just want to let you know that I don't know how we're going to sort this out, but we will. And you're not the only one in the Order who wants to keep Lucius from getting killed. And I don't know about what it's like on your end of things, but it does help that people were thinking of ideas, and that those ideas were about how to keep us safe but also how to keep him from getting killed instead of just saying 'let's sit back and let this happen.'

Even though they hate him.

Even though he's their enemy.

I think that means something.

I don't want you getting killed either, by the way.

I suppose you both have heard enough to sort out what happened after you left. With the locket. I'm not sure how much you've talked to Sirius about it, but he told me that Kreacher had more information about what happened to Regulus, only he wanted me to hear it in person.

And I want to talk to Mr Snape too, about potions training over hols.

Which means coming over to Grimmauld.

Harry said you weren't up for visitors, so I just wanted to let you know that I'm stopping by but that I wouldn't be offended or anything if you didn't want to say hello. Or write back.

You'll let me know if Harry gets to be too much, yeah?

I may not see you, then. I asked Sirius to ask Mrs Longbottom if I could see Sherwood and he said Colin's coming to take me.

So I probably won't be here when you are. But if you're still here when I get back, maybe I'll say hello.

I don't know if Draco's ready--he's mostly been keeping to his room. But I hope he tries to see you. It might be good for him to talk to someone else who cares about his father.

Did Justin and Ron and Sally-Anne all go home with you? How has that been?

Harry and Hydra came over for a little bit yesterday too. And George and Fred, of course.

The thing about the locket

Well. I'm still untangling it, really. But it felt a lot of the time like I was different from everyone else, and no-one understood me, and it's hard to explain, but it was like I was better than everyone, and at the same time I was broken inside, so broken no-one would ever really be able to love me. And I was better than everyone because I was broken.

So when Ron and Justin wanted to take the flat together I thought right away that it was because Ron and Sally-Anne wanted to spend all their time away from me.

But it isn't like that.

Only I'm still sort of surprised that people want to spend time with me, and a part of me thinks it's all out of an obligation to make me feel better, and that everyone's being far more nice to me than I deserve.

So you see, it's still a bit of a mess.

But the people that matter don't seem to mind it too much.

If the locket was a horcrux then it's no wonder it made you think all sorts of untrue things.

Like the diary did with Hydra.

Mr Dumbledore was here to talk to Mr Snape and Sirius about the horcruxes. To try to figure out how to find them and destroy them, I think, but I wasn't really paying attention to anything else going on then, so I don't know what they decided.

I guess everyone is broken, one way or another.

I suppose we'll find out sooner or later.

Some people hide it really well, and some are but don't realise it, and some are far worse off than others.
