Dear Mr Pennifold,
I hope you've received the parchment I've sent along, and have found my anthem to meet your standards. I wanted to write to you about this latest task in advance of any formal report you might receive, in order to offer some explanation. In my meeting with Professors Slughorn and Acton last night, I was informed that my cursing Vincent Crabbe twice did not count towards my five total. Unfortunately, I was told this after the time period had already elapsed for our challenge, and could not remedy the situation.
I am taking these tasks quite seriously, and my intention was to show my worth by going against two candidates who have a reputation for their strength and skill at duelling and the Noble Arts. I thought that hexing at least one of them multiple times would show my abilities to good advantage, and assumed it would count towards my total.
From what I've heard thus far, Weasley and I are the only ones who each hexed two other candidates against their will, and, of course, I caught one of the candidates I hexed off-guard more than once. My standing for this task may be poor due to technically not completing the requirements, and I accept all responsibility for my error in interpreting the boundaries of our challenge. Know that in my actions, I meant no disrespect to this enterprise, nor to you as my sponsor. I apologise, and hope to remedy the situation with my future performance, which I sincerely hope will be a more accurate reflection of my desire to follow in the footsteps of my father in service to our Lord Protector.
I will make sure to confirm details with you next time I am uncertain of what would count towards fulfillment of our tasks. Please keep me informed if there is anything else you would recommend I do in preparation for future tasks.
With respect,
Pansy Parkinson
